MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY OF NORTHEAST TEXAS TREATMENT CENTER

  1. The Mission of NTTC is to reduce recidivism through providing a quality coeducational residential substance abuse treatment program to non-violent felony offenders and rehabilitate and reintegrate the offender back into the community.

  2. The Philosophy
Community based corrections presumes that skills will be acquired so that the offender will eventually be reintegrated into the community as a sober, law-abiding, tax paying citizen. The other side of the community corrections concept is that the community will become involved with the center through volunteer programs such as mentors, spiritual programs, AA/NA self-help groups, extended family members, and community service programs. Community Corrections is a dual system which benefits from both these ways of programming in meeting the short and long term goals of the program.

  3. The short range goals of the center are:
    1. To identify offenders whose criminal history can be linked to substance abuse or addiction.
    2. To provide a residential treatment alternative for substance abusing offenders.
    3. To provide a rehabilitative option for the courts and offenders so that opportunities are available to learn ways to change thinking and behavior and to become more socially functional through increased educational ability and improved life skills.
    4. To extend the experience of the treatment process to family members through the family program.

  4. The long-range goal of the program is to return the resident, substance free, to the community with a plan of action that includes employment and continued stability as a productive, law-abiding citizen.
